Don't ditch Fairtrade

As you know Sainsbury’s has dropped their Fairtrade Mark on their own-brand tea and replaced it with their own label ‘Fairly Traded’. This takes away the power from Farmers, undermines standards and damages hard won consumer trust.

So 28th Oct is to be a nationwide protest day!

Locally we will be meeting outside Sainsbury’s in Surbiton at 11.30am. There will be a letter for Sainsbury’s that we will sign, a photo shot for the Surrey Comet. As the Surrey Comet has almost no reporters left we’ll do our own report (shortish but with the key points and a quote or two) so they can just print it as it is if need be.  We’ll send a proper press release too as suggested by the website ( https://www.dontditchfairtrade.com/  ) but I doubt anyone will research the story.

It shouldn’t take more than 1/2 an hour.

Please come. See you there

Anne Beales
