What a Weekend!

23-24 June was our Patronal Weekend: on Saturday the Maeldune Fair on Plough Green graced by the presence of our Mayor. And on Sunday - the Feast Day of John the Baptist - Bishop Christopher came to preside at our Festival Eucharist.

Christmas Day event

Every year the Parish invites local people to Christmas lunch and tea in the Church Hall. Lots of guest, lots of volunteers and lots of fun! And a visit by the Deputy Mayor of Kingston with his driver Rabbi Danny Rich. Well done to all the volunteers and helpers including the Digman family who did the cooking, and the two Pats who masterminded the whole event!

Going to London to meet the Lord Mayor

Molly and I felt so privileged to go out with the Mayor and Mayoress of Kingston, Ian and Heather McDonald to Mansion House in RBK 1, driven by Harry, to go to the Lord Mayor’s Annual Children’s Party.

We got all dressed up, with molly as a purple sleeping beauty and me as a pink lady from Grease! We got in the car and in 45 minutes we were at The Mansion House. When we arrived we went into the Egyptian Hall and were entertained by a clown along with 458 other kids while we waited for the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress to arrive!

We got the chance to meet the Lord Mayor and we both sat in the Lord Mayors’ gold chairs with the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress and had our picture taken with them. When we met the Lord Mayor we told him all about the Kingston and Malden Scout and Guide Band being in the Lord Mayors Parade!

In the afternoon we had some tea, listened to a live local band called Get it and had the chance to hold some animals. The party finished with the Grand Conga around some of the rooms in the House including the Kitchen and that was led by the Lord Mayor himself!

Then we were given a couple of balloons and a CD from the Lord Mayor and we made our way home.

We had a great afternoon and thank the Mayor and Mayoress for inviting us. We would also really like to thank Harry for driving us there and back!
