Organ recital

Parish organist Barry Eaton relaxes with a cup of tea after an hour-long recital on Saturday evening. Barry's programme celebrated the work of Handel and Mendelssohn who both have special anniversaries this year. It also included a piece by Guilmant, based on Handel's work, and another by JSB who was a great inspiration to Mendelssohn.

Another recital on 10th October will continue to mark this double anniversary year.

Barry's sensitive and intelligent playing is enjoyed by the 9.45am congregation every Sunday. In addition to our hymns, Barry invariably closes our worship with a voluntary chosen from his wide-ranging repertoire.

We are so lucky to have Barry - listening to his post service playing is a real treat. Thank you Barry and all the Choristers for their beautiful music that so enhances our morning worship.

It is great to know that Barry Eaton is still playing the lovely organ at St. John's.

I am a former pupil of Mr. Eaton. Maybe not one of his finest(!), but thanks to memories of his lessons of over 20 years ago I have recently rekindled my interest in playing.

Thank you.

I had lessons from Barry too. He was big influence on me, and got me taking music seriously. I'll catch one of his recitals next time he plays for sure.
