60 YEARS OF MUSIC
An evening of entertainment, given by the Kingston & Malden Scout & Guide Band – Saturday March 20th at Tolworth Girls School - was the culmination of many hours of practice and dedication, as the band celebrated it’s 60th anniversary. Guests were treated to a feast of music, from some of the old faithfuls and some new pieces - Foot tapping was the order of the day as the band gave it’s rendition of scores from ‘Glen Miller’ ‘ Disney ‘ Mary Poppins’ and many other well known tunes. VIP’s that attended were impressed with the professionalism of the band.
The Band, one of the few A graded Scout & Guide Bands in the country, was formed in 1950 with 6 members and now boasts a membership of 60 with some members as young as 8 and 9.
The band celebrated 60years of great music with a huge celebration cake.
Cutting the cake with Bandmaster Alison Eggitt are band members Henry and Hanna
