New vestments too ...

A donor who wishes to remain anonymous has commissioned and paid for a complete set of white vestments for us to use at special festivals. They are in memory of someone who was very important to the donor.

The set comprises an altar frontal with burse and veil, a chasuble, two stoles and the beautiful cope shown below. They were designed under the tireless supervision of Janet Whaymand our Sacristan.

The cope incorporates an older hood (shown in the detail), which was given to St John's in the 1920s. It was skilfully re-worked by Mrs Pat Hembrow, a member of our congregation. These new vestments will help to beautify the worship we offer for many years to come.
