St Wilgefortis

Today 20 July is - was once - the Feast Day of St Wilgefortis, and to mark it here is a link to Rebecca Clamp's haunting tribute in song.

There really was a cult of Wilgefortis once - knowing the Church, there probably still is somewhere.

But just at the moment, with women and men once more in pain in the Church, perhaps it's good to remember her. And also note in passing what she might have to say about penal substitution theologies ...
