Colin Powell, who was the head teacher at Malden
Parochial School, was installed as an Honorary Lay Canon at Southwark Cathedral
at a very impressive choral evensong on Sunday 18 September. Colin was being honoured for his work in
education both as head teacher and more recently as Director of Education in
the Diocese. Also in the photo are Joyce
Smart, (who was Colin’s secretary at the school) and former ‘dinner ladies’
Pauline Armour and Monica Drake. On the
right is Sandra Davis who also worked at MPS.
St. John’s was well represented in the congregation at the service to
support Colin.
