1st Old Malden (St. John the Baptist) Scout Group has formed a local Explorer Scout Unit for young people aged 13 1/2 to 18 and St. John's was lucky enough to see its new members for the first time this weekend, 20 September, when the new Unit and its leaders joined the rest of the Group for Church Parade.Group Scout Leader Tim Eggitt took the opportunity to present those members who had been members of the 1st Old Malden Scout Troop with their individual "Moving On Awards". These recognise a successful link into a young person's next step in their Scouting adventure. Tim also pointed out that these awards were extra special as he felt they also recognised the efforts they had each put in towards making the Group's "senior Scout" experiment a success during the summer and which led to the formation of the new Unit.Tom (seen on the right) carried the Union flag for the parade and Alex (next to Tom) read the Old Testament reading.
