NO, NOT ‘THE MEN’S THING’ UNIFORM OR THEIR SECRET WEAPON!

Roger Jeal is seen modelling the ‘bee’s knees’ in bee keeping kit and holding a mean machine to smoke honey bees, making them lethargic, when you want to get their honey.

Chris Feltham, on the right in the photo, gave the St John’s men’s group a great talk about bee keeping in which they learned about dusting bees with icing sugar to tackle parasites and countering threats from woodpeckers and mice with sweet teeth. Bees cannot fly when the temperature is below 60 degrees F but they still sting Chris seven or eight times a year.

After the introductory session in the Church extension, group members look forward to follow-up field work studying bees making honey for real in Chris’s garden.

Rogers Words!
