Being congratulated by members of the St John the Baptist Church, and members
of the Mothers Union 29th July, Maureen Hawkins better known to her
friends as ‘Grannie Mo’, displays her 900th blanket crocheted for the
charity that she supports, ‘Born too Soon’
Since the year 2000 ‘Mo’ has made 900 blankets for the neonatal
unit at Kingston Hospital. Her original promise was to make two blankets a month
for one year. During the past thirteen years she has given talks to several
groups and as a result has taken 1187 items – all hand made – to the hospital.
This is on top of her own 900 blankets.
She would like to thank everyone for their generosity to these
very tiny special
babies.
